Judicial Mentorship Program

Imperial County Superior Court is pleased to announce their participation in the Inland Counties Judicial Mentorship Program that provides mentors to attorneys interested in pursuing a judicial appointment.  In conjunction with Riverside and San Bernardino County Superior Courts, the Inland Counties Judicial Mentorship Program’s primary goal is conveying to the legal community the uniform message of Governor Newsom’s commitment to the appointment of highly capable and qualified judicial applicants reflective of the rich diversity of our state.

Applicants should complete the Judicial Mentor Online Application.  Once processed, the applicant will be scheduled for an appointment with Assistant Presiding Judge Eran M. Bermudez.

The program was developed to assist attorneys interested in applying for a Superior Court Judicial position. Accepted applicants into the Inland Empire Judicial Mentorship Program will be assigned a mentor Judge who will provide guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the judicial application process. Judicial mentees, to the extend possible, will be paired with mentors of similar personal and professional background who will assist in answering questions about the application, appointment and vetting process and review their judicial application.

Prospective mentees should be in good standing with the State Bar of California. Priority will be provided to those who already applied or are eligible to apply and intend to do so within the next 12 months. Attorneys who do not meet these criteria may still apply to the program for a mentor who can provide general guidance for any future judicial application.
